HARC Tulip Time Radio Training

9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Herrick Main Library

Description

The Holland Amateur Radio Club (HARC) invites prospective Tulip Time communications volunteers to an informational and training session hosted at the Holland’s Herrick District Library – Main Branch. HARC has proudly supported the Tulip Time Festival for over 40 years, providing critical medical and public safety radio communications along the parade routes of both the Kinderparade and Volksparade, helping serve the festival's nearly one million annual visitors. Licensed volunteer operators are stationed throughout the parade routes, working directly alongside medical personnel and public safety dispatchers to ensure rapid response when emergencies arise. To serve as a radio operator volunteer, participants must be 18 years of age or older and hold a valid FCC Amateur Radio license at the Technician class or higher. A limited number of observer positions are also available for non-licensed individuals interested in shadowing a licensed operator. This training session will cover net procedures, assigned positions, equipment use, and coordination with Tulip Time's dedicated repeater infrastructure. Come learn how your amateur radio skills can make a real difference in keeping Holland's beloved festival safe for everyone.
