From the producers of Sesame Street, Through Our Eyes was designed as a co-viewing experience for adults and kids ages 8 and up. Each stand-alone 26-minute film is directed by an award winning filmmaker. In this 6-week series, we will premiere each episode and provide a conversation on the topic with a panel of local experts.
July 10 - "Uprooted"
* Two families with young children grapple with climate-related crisis
* Panelists include faculty members and sustainability experts from GVSU
July 17 - "Leading"
* Youth everywhere are following in their elders' footsteps and taking action on issues they care about
Panelists include experts from the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Holland, Out on the Lakeshore, and GVSU
July 24 - "Homefront"
* Gabby, Terry, and Luther all have parents who were injured while serving and each family has found a way to heal the wounds of war
July 31 - "Shelter"
* Shelter follows three unhoused children and their parents in L.A. as they seek steady shelter and try to keep their dreams alive
* Panelists include experts from Community Action House, Good Samaritan Ministries, Arbor Circle, and West Ottawa Public Schools
August 7 - "Apart"
* Follow Lyric, Eric, and Nnaji as they contend with incarceration of parents with whom they maintain a deep connection despite physical distance
* Panelists include experts from Children's Advocacy Center, Out on the Lakeshore, and Taylor Made Re-Entry
August 14 - "Reclaim"
* Honor and his older brother Hanalei connect to their Hawaiian roots through language, the rigorous practice of hula, and preserving their heritage
* Panelists include experts from Latin Americans United for Progress the Gun Lake Tribe, and Holland Museum
