Events › Mental Illness and the Courage to End Stigma

Mental illness and the challenges faced by those suffering from mental health crises as a result of stigma is a topic worthy of much discussion. According to the Momentum Center, 1 in 4 people will have a serious mental illness if their life and 1 in 6 people in Ottawa County report experiencing poor mental health. To speak on this topic, Herrick District Library is welcoming Barbara Lee VanHorssen to discuss what mental illness is and what steps can be taken to end the stigma that revolves around this topic. Our hope is that this event will help attendees to branch out and understand the different members that make up our Holland community.
